The Story
This experiential workshop recording will assist participants in understanding the causes of their own autistic burnout, to identify if and where they are in the burnout experience, and to develop the initial steps to recover from autistic burnout. This presentation thus addresses strategies for each phase - the early signs, the collapse, initial re-entry into life, maintenance of the plan, and prevention of recurrence. Experiential activities are led by Tony and Michelle.
This course differs from previous presentations on Autistic Burnout, since the format is a facilitated workshop. Participants will benefit from the expertise of Michelle, Tony, special guest Hugh Walker*, and our webcast event participants. The strategies offered are based on current research, a sum of over 95 years of combined clinical experience with autistic people between Tony, Michelle and Hugh and lived experience (Michelle).
*Dr Hugh Walker is a Clinical Psychologist, Co-Director of Minds & Hearts, a Board-Approved Supervisor, and a Casual Lecturer in the Clinical Psychology Program at the University of Queensland. We have worked with Hugh for over 15 years and are very excited by his novel clinical work with clients experiencing autistic burnout. Hugh contributed to our January 2026 event on Autistic Burnout in London. He has kindly shared his research and clinical experience in this blog, Novel approaches to the formulation and treatment of recurrent burnout cycles in neurodivergent clients: A schema therapy informed approach. - Minds & Hearts. We are delighted and honoured to be able to co-facilitate this workshop with Hugh.
